Welcome to your weekly music update where top charting hits meet promising artists on the rise. Let us get right into it as we navigate through the noise of ARIA Singles and Albums Charts. From legendary duets to mind-blowing albums, this week’s episode has it all. Here are the things going around in the music worlds.
Chart-Topping News
Rosé & Bruno Mars Rule Over “APT.”
The Rosé–Bruno Mars powerhouse duet “APT.” is breaking records by topping the ARIA Singles Chart for a ninth non-consecutive week at Number 1. It is significant achievement that makes it the longest running No.1-duet since Elton John’s and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” which held onto that throne for ten weeks in 2020-21.
Rosé and Mars still dominate even with a strong challenge from Gracie Abrams’ “That’s So True” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” coming back seasonally, proving that their hit is an anthem not to be forgotten within ten years.
Sabrina Carpenter Breaks Records
ARIA Albums Chart has been transformed by Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet album. It became no 1 for nine non-consecutive weeks making it the longest reign of any female solo artist since Taylor Swift ‘s 1989 (Taylor’s Version)–14 weeks between 2023 and 2024.
Even if you exclude Taylor’s iconic run, Sabrina’s streak is the biggest by a solo female since Adele who spent an incredible 32 weeks at the summit of charts in 2010-11 with her “21.” The fact that Carpenter’s music has begun to have a global impact is no longer in doubt and this album only further illustrates the power and standing she occupies.
Emerging Talent Shakes Up The Charts
Newcomers are lighting up the ARIA Singles Chart, and here’s whose making their mark:
Chrystal skyrocketed from #18 to #7 after remixing “The Days (Notion Remix),” which became her first top 10 hit.
SZA climbed from #27 to #17 on the ARIA singles chart for her “BMF,” another standout record off SOS. Her album is still doing well, coming second on Albums Chart.
At #36 Morgan Wallen debut his new single “Smile,” which was his seventh top 50 hit in Australia. This country-pop gem hints at even bigger things from Wallen’s upcoming album.
